Work had been a bit hectic over the past few days. An incident followed by another. But thankfully, they were all sorted out and everything went on smoothly from then onwards. That was part of the reason why this blog ended up on a hiatus mode. I got home feeling tired almost everyday and I just wanted to lay on bed playing with my phone after showering or catching up with some drama series on my iPad.
I had been writing more of food entries recently than skincare product reviews. I had purchased quite a fair share of new skincare products on my last holiday trip. I will be doing a skincare haul blog entry soon but I have yet snapped the pictures of what I bought. I will be making a day trip to Miri next week and hopefully, I will get to stock up on some skincare products as well.
Shiseido SENKA Perfect Gel
I thought I bought this some time early this year but it turned out to be way earlier than that. I am quite a fan of Shiseido SENKA products for the affordability and effectiveness. But sad to say, I personally think that this product did not fare as well as some of the Senka products which I had previously tried. My recent Shiseido SENKA product before Shiseido SENKA Perfect Gel was Shiseido SENKA Perfect Watery Oil and it was one of the best ones I tried.
The product came housed in a blue plastic tube like packaging with a cap at the end of the packaging. It has a strong fragrance just like any other Shiseido SENKA range of makeup removers. The fragrance could be unbearable for some as it lingers for quite some time after rinsing. The texture of the liquid is in gel form. To dispense the gel liquid, squeeze the packaging to release an adequate amount onto your palm and gently massage the gel liquid onto the face in circular motion to dissolve makeup and impurities.
As this makeup remover is in the form of gel texture, it does not emulsify when in contact with water as compared to oil based makeup removers. Despite so, I still stick with my usual routine of slightly dissolving the gel liquid before wiping them off with a piece of cotton pad and followed by full rinse with lukewarm water. As I do not wear heavy makeup, I could not vouch for the effectiveness when it comes to removing heavy makeup.
It was able to remove my light makeup well enough but I did not like how my skin felt after using it. It did not leave my skin with the soft and smooth effect as compared to Shiseido SENKA Perfect Watery Oil and some other makeup removers which I had used. As a matter of fact, it left my skin with a grease like layer after rinsing so double cleansing is definitely inevitable.
So, here’s what I think of Shiseido SENKA Perfect Gel in a nutshell:
Pros: 1. Affordable. 2. Removes light makeup well enough.
Cons: 1. Strong fragrance, unsuitable for those who do not like heavily scented product. 2. Leaves a grease-like layer after rinsing.
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5
